How we source & why prices change
Our Japanese and Chinese Pokémon pricing reflects the cost of securing each delivery in fast-moving local markets.
Same set, different shipment: understanding the price
We source Japanese and Chinese Pokémon cards through a mix of distributors and buying partners. This gives us different routes to secure stock as availability changes.
Why can prices change so often?
Market prices in Japan and China can change daily—and sometimes several times in the same day. When a set becomes harder to obtain or stock is scarce across the market, suppliers can raise their prices as businesses compete for the available supply.
Each delivery has its own buying cost
The price you pay BMG is based on the price we paid to secure that delivery. A restock of the same set may therefore have a different wholesale price from an earlier shipment, even though the product itself has not changed.
What this means when you plan an order
Treat a previous shipment’s price as a reference, rather than a promise of the next restock price. Check the current listing when ordering, and contact us if you would like help understanding a price change or planning a larger purchase.
Before you order
A few useful checks when choosing stock for your business.
Japanese or Chinese Pokémon?
These ranges use different card languages and can have different set names, release schedules and pack contents. Choose the language your customers want and check the individual listing before ordering.
What does CDU mean?
CDU means counter display unit. It describes a display format, not a fixed number of packs or pieces. Check the product title and description for the quantity included; box and carton contents vary.
How do restock alerts work?
Open a sold-out product from Restock Alerts and select “Notify me when back in stock”. A notification request does not place an order or reserve stock.
Is there a minimum order?
There is no minimum order. Orders below £500 excluding VAT carry a delivery charge of £10 for orders up to £100, £20 for £100.01–£200, £30 for £200.01–£300, £40 for £300.01–£400, and £50 for £400.01–£499.99 (order values and delivery charges exclude VAT).
How quickly can I start ordering?
Trade accounts are usually approved within 48 hours, often the same day during business hours, Monday to Friday. Orders are generally dispatched within 2–3 working days; timings are estimates.
Trade buying guides
Practical guidance for retailers and distributors planning their next order.
Japanese or Chinese Pokémon: a trade buying guide
Choose stock by language, format and the customers you serve. Japanese and Chinese Pokémon products should be treated as distinct ranges: a similar character or box design does not mean the contents are interchangeable.
Start with the language
Check the language stated on each listing before ordering. For Chinese products, check whether the listing specifies Simplified or Traditional Chinese. Use the same description when listing the product in your own store so customers know exactly what they are buying.
Compare the complete product
Read the set name, pack count, cards per pack where stated, and the selling unit. A booster box, a slim display and a special collection may contain different quantities and accessories. Do not assume that similarly named sets have the same card list or release date.
Build a range your customers understand
Use your own sales history and customer requests to decide your initial mix. Keep the languages clearly labelled on shelves and online. BMG has no minimum order, so you can choose quantities appropriate to your business; include delivery in your buying calculation.
Before placing your order
- Confirm the card language and exact set.
- Check the quantity supplied per selling unit.
- Review current availability on the product page.
- Ask us about any detail that is missing rather than relying on the box image.
Browse Japanese Pokémon and Chinese Pokémon, or contact BMG with the product name and quantity you need.
Booster boxes, CDUs and cartons: check what you are ordering
Wholesale listings use different selling units. Before comparing prices or choosing quantities, establish exactly what one unit includes.
Booster packs and booster boxes
A booster pack is an individual pack of cards. A booster box or display contains multiple packs, but the number varies by product. Use the pack quantity in the specific listing; never assume a standard quantity across different languages or releases.
What is a CDU?
CDU means counter display unit. It describes a display format, not a fixed quantity. A CDU of trading cards and a CDU of squish products can contain very different numbers of items. Check both the quantity and any assortment details.
What is a carton?
A carton is an outer shipping unit that may contain multiple boxes or displays. A product photo showing several boxes does not establish that the listing is for a full carton. Order according to the written selling unit.
Work out the quantity you need
If a listing states that one display contains 20 packs, ordering two displays gives you 40 packs. This is a calculation example, not a specification for every BMG product. Use the actual quantities shown on your chosen listing.
Check your landed cost
Consider the goods, delivery and VAT when planning an order. BMG has no minimum order. Orders below £500 excluding VAT carry a delivery charge of £10 for orders up to £100, £20 for £100.01–£200, £30 for £200.01–£300, £40 for £300.01–£400, and £50 for £400.01–£499.99 (order values and delivery charges exclude VAT); orders of £500 excluding VAT or more qualify for free UK mainland delivery under our current terms.
If a selling unit or quantity is unclear, ask us before ordering. Include the product name and the number of individual packs, displays or cartons you need.
Stock availability, restock alerts and upcoming releases
Use current availability to plan your order, and product-specific alerts to follow items that are sold out. An image or announcement alone is not confirmation of stock allocation.
Available now
Check the product page for current availability and sign in to your approved trade account for pricing. Orders remain subject to acceptance and stock availability.
Waiting for a restock
Browse Restock Alerts, open the product you want and select “Notify me when back in stock”. Submit your email through the product notification form. A notification request does not place an order, reserve stock or guarantee that a product will return.
When you receive an alert
Return to the product page and check availability before ordering. Stock can change between the time an email is sent and the time you visit. Items leave the stock-alert collection when they become available again.
Upcoming releases and paid pre-orders
A restock alert is separate from a paid pre-order. Only treat an upcoming item as available to pre-order when BMG explicitly offers that option and provides the applicable details. A release announcement elsewhere does not confirm BMG pricing, dates or allocation.
Keep up with the range
Use the trade stock-update signup for general news about arrivals, restocks and confirmed upcoming releases. That subscription is separate from an alert for a specific product. For a particular buying requirement, contact our team.
